Districtwide Health Curriculum Proposed in Fall River

The district’s proposal to “bring health back into middle schools” coincides with a statewide action plan to address the ongoing opioid epidemic. The district coordinator of health and physical education specifically recommended Botvin LifeSkills Training in the statewide action plan as health teachers recently trained in the program. LST Given the Highest Evidence Rating by EIF

Hundreds of millions each year are spent on specialist services and hospital admissions for young people involved in substance misuse, according to a report published this year by the Early Intervention Foundation (EIF) in the UK. The EIF evaluates the evidence of what works and what does not work in the area of early intervention and recently published a guidebook that helps policy-makers and practitioners base their choices on the best available evidence, as well as more tacit considerations of circumstance and implementation. Read More...
