LST Protects Teens from Prescription Opioid Abuse

Recent research reveals an effective new strategy for combating the growing epidemic of prescription opioid misuse among youth. Researchers funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) reported that the school-based prevention program, Botvin LifeSkills Training (LST), delivered in 7th grade classrooms can help students avoid misusing prescriptions opioids and other drugs throughout their teen years. Read more...

Walden Elementary Social Emotional Time

Fairfield Behavioral Health Implements LST

Fairfield Behavioral Health Services (FBHS) in Winnsboro, SC implemented a series of programs at the beginning of the school year that target students in first through seventh grades. Among other programs, FBHS implemented LifeSkills Training with sixth-graders and seventh-graders. The program aims to give healthy alternatives to risky behavior. Students are taught the necessary skills to resist peer pressure, help them develop greater self-esteem and self-confidence, inform them of the immediate consequences of substance abuse, and help them cope with anxiety.  Read more...

Congratulations to the New LifeSkills TOTs

Congratulations to the participants of the White Plains, NY Training of Trainers (TOT) Workshop in November 2015. During this two-day course led by Alayne MacArthur, National Health Promotion Associates (NHPA) Trainer, participants from all over the U.S. learned how to deliver and conduct Lifeskills Provider Training Workshops for their respective organizations. Read more...
