The new LifeSkills Training Prescription Drug Abuse Prevention Module gives adolescents the skills and knowledge necessary to help them avoid the misuse/abuse of opioids and prescription drugs. This module is ideal for school districts, community-based organizations, and agencies serving students in grades 6–9. It is available in both digital and print formats.

The module is designed to be integrated into the LST Middle School program or used as a stand-alone component.

Target Audience: Students in grades 6–8

Students will develop skills to:

Recognize that prescription drugs are medications intended to help people deal with medical problems.

Recognize that prescription drugs–and, in some cases, over-the-counter medicines–can be abused.

Identify why people do or do not abuse prescription drugs (including opioids).

Learn and practice effective refusal techniques.

The LST Prescription Drug Abuse Prevention Module is available in both digital and print formats. Teachers can choose the best format that best suits their implementation setting. The module can be used as a standalone component for programs that need content to explicitly address this serious public health issue, or in conjunction with LST Middle School program (intended to be implemented after Assertiveness in any LST Middle School level).

WHICH VERSION IS RIGHT FOR ME?

The digital version is intended for independent student study. Students need access to internet and a digital media format- i.e. tablet, iPad, computer, etc. If students cannot study independently then the print version is the most appropriate for your classes.

DIGITAL MODULE:
Digital content is intended for each student to complete their work independently in class followed by group activities.

Duration: 50 minutes: (25 minutes online/25 minutes offline)

Cost: $200 per teacher instructional materials and 100 student worksheets; additional packs of student worksheets available (packs of 100)

Cost: $200 per teacher (unlimited number of students per teacher)

PRINT MODULE:
Teachers deliver lesson to students using Teacher’s Materials and Student Worksheets.
